How to reach Osijek?

ARRIVAL TO OSIJEK
Osijek is located at the crossroads of Central and Southeastern Europe, halfway between the capitals of Croatia, Serbia, Hungary and Bosnia and Herzegovina. It will take you about 2.5 hours by car from Zagreb, Belgrade and Budapest to Osijek, and about 4 hours from Sarajevo. The distance from the Hungarian border is 50 km, from Serbia 35 km, and from Bosnia and Herzegovina 100 km.

Osijek is connected to Zagreb and other major cities in Croatia by direct rail lines and frequent bus lines. You can reach the capitals of neighboring countries by public transport with a transfer, and you can make a direct bus connection from Belgrade (SRB).

Domestic air routes connect Osijek with Zagreb, Rijeka, Split and Dubrovnik, while international departure airports are Stuttgart (DE), Cologne/Bonn (DE) and Basel (CH) / Mulhouse (FRA) / Freiburg (DE). Osijek can also be reached relatively quickly from the airports in Zagreb (HR), Budapest (HU), Belgrade (SRB) and Tuzla (BiH).
If you are a passenger on a tourist ship, a cruiser, you will arrive in Osijek via the Danube and Drava rivers from the north, from Budapest and Mohács, and from the east from the Black Sea coast via Belgrade, Novi Sad, Ilok and Vukovar.

By car
From the west by the A3 - A5 motorways (Ljubljana, SLO - Zagreb - Slavonski Brod - Đakovo - Osijek). From the west and east by the D2 state road (Graz, A - Maribor, SLO - Varaždin - Koprivnica - Virovitica - Našice - Osijek - Vukovar - Ilok - Novi Sad, SRB - Belgrade, SRB). From the south and north by the D7 state road or the A5 motorway (Bosanski Šamac, BiH - Slavonski Šamac - Đakovo - Osijek - Beli Manastir - Pécs, HU - Budapest, HU).

By train
Regular passenger transport by rail in the Republic of Croatia is provided by the company HŽ - Putnički prijevoz d.o.o. (Croatian Railways). You can travel by direct train from Osijek without transfers to destinations in Osijek-Baranja, Vukovar-Srijem, Virovitica-Podravina, Koprivnica-Križevci counties and to the City of Zagreb, and with short transfers to destinations in Brod-Posavina, Varaždin, Međimurje and Bjelovar-Bilogora counties and destinations on the Adriatic.
You can reach the railway station from the main square by tram on line 2: Trg dr. Ante Starčevića - Bikara - Trg dr. Ante Starčevića, with a transfer at the Đakovština stop. From the same stop to the station it takes about 5 minutes to walk.

By bus
The Osijek bus station is operated by Ariva Panturist d.d., part of the Arriva - Deutsche Bahn group. Regular passenger transport to Osijek is provided by a number of bus companies.
You can reach destinations in Osijek-Baranja, Požega-Slavonia and Brod-Posavina counties, as well as major cities in other parts of Croatia, by bus company Arriva.

By plane
Osijek Airport is located along the D2 state road, direction Osijek – Vukovar, in the village of Klisa, 15 km from the city center.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT AND MOVING AROUND THE CITY
From the city settlement Josipovac, through the city districts of Retfala, Gornji grad, Tvrđa and Donji grad to the settlement of Sarvaš, Osijek stretches along the Drava River for almost 25 km. Therefore, the easiest way to get around the city is by public transport, trams and buses operated by GPP - City Passenger Transport. The city itself (the Osijek settlement) is networked with about 40 km of bicycle paths that extend into the suburban settlements.

Tram & Bus
Tram and bus tickets can be purchased on board the vehicle, while transport cards can be purchased at newsstands and at GPP branches: Remiza (opening hours: 6:30-13:30), Gajev trg (opening hours: 6:30-13:00) and Pothodnik on Trg A. Starčevića (opening hours Mon-Fri: 07:00-19:30; Sat: 08:15-13:00).
